Overtime & shift hours pay calculator

Total a week of shifts, including overnight ones, and calculate overtime pay. Free, private, runs in your browser.

How it works

Shift hours = End − Start (add 24 h if the shift ends after midnight) − unpaid break.

Regular hours = min(Total, Threshold). Overtime = Total − Threshold. Pay = Regular × Rate + Overtime × Rate × Multiplier.

Example: five 10-hour shifts at $20 with overtime after 40 h at 1.5x → 40 × 20 + 10 × 30 = $1,100.

Overtime rules differ by country, state and contract (daily overtime, double time, etc.). Check the rules that apply to you.

FAQ

How do I enter an overnight shift?

Enter the real start and end times, e.g. 22:00 to 06:00. When the end is earlier than the start, the calculator adds 24 hours.

Is overtime calculated daily or weekly?

This tool uses a weekly threshold. Some places also require daily overtime, which is not covered here.

Are breaks paid?

Enter only unpaid break minutes. Paid breaks should not be subtracted.
